Clarence Castors Win NCJHL Championship

The Clarence Castors are NCJHL Champions after sweeping the South Grenville Rangers 4-0 in the League Finals. A 3-2 win on Saturday night put the John A. Cameron trophy in the hands of the Castors for the first time. Nicholas Gaumond had the game winning goal in Game 4 and led the team in playoff scoring, finishing with 12 goals and 5 assists.
Castors goaltender Corey Camirand was selected as Playoff MVP after ending the playoffs with a 1.76 goals against average. Camirand was also recognized as top goaltender and MVP for the regular season.
Other award winners on the championship roster include Xavier Brunet (Rookie of the Year), Connor Head-Smith (Most Sportsmanlike Player), and Tim Kosch (Coach of the Year).
Since coming to Clarence in 2017-18, the Castors regular season record stands at 85-35-6. This was the franchise’s second appearance in the Championship Series.
After finishing the regular season in first place at 19-3-1, the Castors defeated the Metcalfe Jets (3-0) and the Gatineau Hull-Volant (4-3) before reaching the finals.
